Declan the duckling

Declan's story is a typical one for the littlest duckling in a brood!
Declan could have been one last to hatch and by the time he popped out of his shell Mother duck and the others were itching to go for a wash down by the river!
Little Declan was not quick enough and got left behind, even thought he lady who found him had already reunited some of the ducklings to mum, Declan kept hidden and she did not see him and when she got back from her mercy mission there sat Declan quacking for the others.
So she contacted us after reading our website to see if we could help and popped the little mite over to us to give him a chance.
Although many single ducklings do not survive on their own Declan is doing well, steadily putting on weight and gaining confidence, so much so that when we try to tidy his bed and reheat his warming pad he puffs himself up and hiss at us.
Declan snuggled up in a nest of feathers from Petrina's new cushion she brought!

Declan wondering if he can eat the camera!

Ducklings need their sibblings to survive, so if you see one on it's own then please look around and see if you can find them, if you cannot then contact us on 01933 650372 and we will male room for another little orphaned duckling, but PLEASE check the area first.
