PLEASE TAKE CARE WHEN RE-HOMING FERRETS THEY NEEEEED ATTENTION
IF YOU ARE TOLD THEY DON'T BITE!
IT IS A LIE ALL FERRET WILL BITE ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE NOT HANDLED ALL THE TIME
It has been known for some re-homing centres to handle their ferrets before people come to see them, to get them tired and handlable before you arrive. When they have then arrived at their new forever home, the very next day they have biten their new owners.
This is not good practice so if you are not too sure go back and see them again, if they nip you then remember the next time could be a bite!

It's the only way to keep them friendly!
General Care Of Your Pet Ferrets
First and foremost your pet ferrets want plenty of attention it is not fair to just pop their food in and leave them, they are very sociable animals and love human company, play time is essential to their well-being.
Feeding
All our ferrets are fed on Trust Pets complete ferret food, we recommend that you leave a bowl in their pen at all times, they like to eat when they are about.
You can try them with treats such as currents, a bit of cooked ham, ours are very partial to prawns (not too many though as they are high in colestral).
Some ferrets like cucumber, strawberries and adore ice cream. Water must be available at all times, a small drink of LACTOLITE Milk is soon gone.
Bedding
The softer the better, ferrets love to snuggle up in fleece, you should change the bedding about every week, this will help eliminate any odours.
Toilet Area
Ferrets are very clean animals and will only soil in one place in their hutch. To train them indoors, they will usually pick their spot, usually in a corner, all you need to do is to put newspaper down in that place and hopefully your pets will soon get the idea, you can always put them onto the paper if you catch them before they go. You know when they are about to go because they start backing up with their tails in the air.
Cleanliness
It is best to only bath ferrets for shows as too much can dry the natural oils in the coat.
Ticks and fleas (there shouldn’t be any unless your pet manages to escape and picks them up from outside) can be treated with Frontline available from the vets.
Ear mites are treated with a drop of Frontline in the ear.

Another cheeky face!
NANNA Rehoming Policy for Ferrets Nanna will only rehome our ferrets in pairs, this is so they have companionship.
We neuter all our ferrets and microchip them and some will have had their distemper vaccinations.
Remember these are pet ferrets not working ferrets and it has cost NANNA over £60 per ferret, on average, to come through our doors.
Our ferrets are in large outdoor runs with warm sheltered housing and we would prefer them to go to something similar, we will not allow them to go to a hutch, so please don't ask!
NANNA has a wonderful little character called Oscar.
Oscar has had a vasectomy and he is a very lucky young man as he gets all the jills!
Sometimes we get very poorly jills in because they are in season for too long, so instead of using the jill jab we pop them in with Oscar and he strutts is stuff and the jills can then be neutered when they are healthy enough for the operation.
DO FERRET SMELL?
Unneutered hobs (males) stink, but once neutered they have no need for their strong aroma to attract the jills, so they loose most of this unpleasant side effect and smell a lot better!
